Hello, and welcome. My name is Frederick Coye Heard, and I live in the Shenandoah Valley where I write about culture, politics, food and other things people need to live together. I have a Ph.D. in American literature from the University of Texas in Austin, and I taught students in Texas and Virginia for more than a decade. I left both Texas and Academia, but I remain cantankerous and erudite. My tacos are on point; my cornbread is better than your mama’s. I am available for writing, editing, photography and workshops.

My work has appeared at MARC, Texas Monthly and the Billfold.
